margin of error which in turn determines the range of the population mean. T is like a z score but for a costume distribution HYPOTHESIS TESTING- The likelihood of getting this value when the mean is (some number) 8.1 - You claim that something is greater then less than equal or not equal to something else. That something else is the null hypothesis, and you argue and alternative hypothesis against that. The null is equal to the value and the alternative has a sign differing from that. P value (proving the alternate hypothesis )- picture a bell shaped curve in the examples that follow. Insert the word percentage for area The critical value tells us the area where the alternative hypothesis is true. \ The region that is shaded in relation to it is alpha and it is the probability of discarding a value that would lead us to reject the null hypothesis. The test statistic/value - is a value used in making a decision about the null hypothesis and is found by converting the sample statistic to a score with the assumption that the null hypothesis is true. The p value is area in front of a given test value. If p is greater than alpha we do not reject the null If it is less then we do. Above is a description of the P-value, not the value of p which is use in defining the alternative hypothesis The a means that that the p value had to agree with the hypothesis to an degree at least as extreme as A Proofing results- if the evidence appears not to be unusual if the claim is true or false then the evidence can not support the claim The test stat is the z score of the difference between the P being tested and the result

What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
