Mr. Davis is a 56 year-old man who voluntarily admitted himself to the alcohol rehabilitation facility yesterday. He has been in acute detoxification unit for about 16 hours. Mr. Davis is a member of the school board and a pastor of large church. He was removed from the school board meeting by security guards after they got angry and directed racial and ethnic slurs at students and their family members. His wife asked him to move out from their home after the incidence in the school board meeting. Mr. Davis has 3 children, two daughters and one son. His daughter do not speak to him, however son is accompanied him to the rehabilitation facility. He has no known allergies and no significant medication history other than an open reduction internal fixation surgery to repair a humerus fracture two years ago. He stated his alcohol intake is 1 pint of vodka per day and his last drink was before the school board meeting. During assessment, he was alert and oriented to time, place, and person. His vital signs were: - respiratory rate= 20 breaths per minute, oxygen level=99%, heart rate=100, blood pressure=160/94 mmHg, and his temperature was 99 degree F. He had an order of diazepam for a CIWA score of 8 or greater; diazepam was administered because his CIWA score was greater than 8. I recommend a group therapy.
