below market. Otherwise, I love working at Foley.” Firm Culture • “Our office is really friendly—the whole firm eats catered lunches together on Fridays, with departments and staff/ attorneys mingling at tables, and most people eat lunches with 2-3 friends every day. The office has its own staffed coffee bar where people mingle when they need a break, and they strive to put on events that involve the whole office, like putting together a team for Cycle for Survival or watching a movie in one of the conference rooms. Professionally, the firm’s policy is that all doors are always open unless you’re on a conference call, so it’s easy to check in on people or ask quick questions.” • “There are firm organized events and lawyers tend to socialize. I would say that firm events happen twice a month and more so in the summer with the summer associates.” • “Everyone is professional, sociable, and generally nice. The associate group is relatively tight-knit, even across practice group, and nearly all partners are courteous, friendly, personable, and outgoing. There are a few odd partners who can be off-putting or regarded as mean, but my experience has been that across offices everyone tends to like each other.” • “There are a lot of opportunities to socialize in the summer. The firm has a holiday party in the winter but more efforts could be made to have opportunities for the associates to socialize and bond year-round, apart from recruiting efforts.” Associate/Partner Relations • “Partners are very respectful of associates and treat them with respect. There is no transparency when it comes to promotions and performance reviews. The firm does distribute videos and has Q&As, but the answers are not very clear.” • “Transparency has improved with respect to bonuses compared to what it used to be (black box/discretionary); now we have a presumption of a certain percentage of base salary based on the number of hours we hit for the year. If you don’t hit your hours, you may end up getting no bonus, so if you aren’t a high biller, you may not like our bonus system. Performance reviews, etc., are generally candid. Firm financial performance is disclosed to its attorneys every year, and all associates are invited to partake in ‘town hall’ meetings.” • “Partner treatment of associates really varies by partner. Many of the partners that I work with are really invested in associates and spend a lot of time mentoring and coaching. Other partners see associates simply as cogs in the wheel and do not spend time on associate well-being and career development.” • “I think, generally, associates are treated well by individual partners. I believe Foley tries very hard to be transparent compared to other firms where I have previously worked.” Hours • “Workloads ebb and flow, but on the whole, the amount of work is sustainable. Face-time ultimately depends on the partners with whom an associate works. There are some

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
