o Later that night, Gatsby asks to have a private conversation with Jordan Baker.o Before Nick leaves, Gatsby asks him to come and ride in his boat the next day.· Chapter 4o One morning, Gatsby picks Nick up to have lunch in New York.o On the drive, Gatsby tells Nick that he is from a rich family who are all dead, he attended Oxford college in England, he spent years treasure hunting and big-game hunting in Europe, and he is a war hero.o Nick doesn’t believe him at first, but Gatsby shows him a medal from the war and a picture of him at Oxford.o To show how much power Gatsby has, a police officer tries to pull him over for speeding but lets him go because he is Jay Gatsby.o Nick meets Meyer Wolfshiem, one of Gatsby’s “business” partners, at a speakeasy.o They run into Tom Buchanan, and Gatsby runs away.o Nick learns that Gatsby and Daisy were together before the war, and Gatsby has asked Jordan to ask Nick if he will invite Daisy over for tea so Gatsby can “drop by.”· Chapter 5o When Nick gets home, Gatsby is waiting on him to see if he is going to invite Daisy over.o Nick agrees to invite her over, so they schedule it in a few days.o The day of the meeting, Gatsby gets Nick’s grass cut and brings over A LOT of flowers.o At first, the meeting is extremely awkward, so Nick leaves to give Gatsby and Daisy some privacy.o When Nick gets back, it is no longer awkward, and Gatsby is “glowing” with happiness.o They go over to Gatsby’s house and take a tour, and Nick starts to catch Gatsby in some lies.o Because she is so unhappy with her current situation and wishes she was with Gatsby, Daisy starts to cry.o Daisy and Gatsby are getting really close, and Nick leaves them later that day.

· Chapter 6o Nick explains Gatsby’s real past.o Tom and Daisy attend one of Gatsby’s parties, and it’s easy to tell that Tom and Daisy’s relationship is in shambles.o Gatsby dances with Daisy right in front of Tom, and then Gatsby and Daisy sneak away to have a private conversation.o Daisy wants to run away with Gatsby, but he doesn’t think that is very respectable, and he thinks it is almost time to tell Tom about everything.o Gatsby’s “business” dealings are starting to interfere with his personal life.
