The hypotheses are important and authentic; the methods are strenuous and driven, and the results are valid as per the participants input. We all are aware that a study, or any work, is only as good as the quality of the information that goes into it. This study is unique in that it looks at the psychopathological comorbidities in clients receiving treatment in an inpatient treatment center for substance abuse. The researchers compare the type and level of substance abuse, as well as the type and clinical presentation of thepsychological illness, with whether or not the participant experiences abuse as a child. The researchers looked at emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. This information was gathered through the use of seven validated interview tools. The results collected are important for professional practice because they could alert practitioners to look more closely at females with ahistory of abuse and instead of possibly diagnosing them with bipolar, they might consider looking into depression or BPD. It is true that many women, and men, suffer from BPD for years because of misdiagnosis. Maybe this will help stop some of that. I believe there are additional pieces of information in the study that could be useful to practitioners as well, if they would take the time to read it.ReferencesDaigre,C., Rodriguez-Cintas, L., Tarifa, N. Step 2: Summary of AnalysisCraft a summary (2-3 paragraph) below that includes the following:Describe your approach to identifying and analyzing peer-reviewed researchIdentify at least two strategies that you would use that you found to be effective in finding peer-reviewed researchIdentify at least one resource you intend to use in the future to find peer-reviewedresearchDetermining a specific topic to utilize for my assignment was not an extremely difficulttask for me. I realize it was only because this was my first assignment to choose aresearch topic. I know it will become more difficult as time goes by. I knew what I wasinterested in from past discussions with other clinicians and experiences with peoplewho have been diagnosed with some of the illnesses that were in my study. I enjoyedreading the articles explaining how to determine the authenticity of a study and how toappraise a study. I was specifically fond of the CARS method of source evaluation.First, I determined the credibility of the authors by verifying their credentials andlooking up additional work each one had accomplished. I also looked for quality in their workby noticing that it was printed in journals that were peer reviewed. The affiliation of eachauthor as well as contact information was listed on the study which is another indicatorof credibility. I was satisfied that the authors were credible.
