I find this to be comical because how would Columbus feel if the roles were reversed and the Indians came to their land for the first time, I don’t think Columbus would be so smug. Columbus gives them all he has from the Old World, and the Indians start to become less timid. Columbus describes them as, “…so artless and so free with all that they posses…” (Columbus 5). In my opinion, they were just fascinated with such new items that anyone in that situation would have given up their old items for new, intriguing ones; human beings are curious by nature no matter race or culture.
