Although these numbers are staggering the university students did not see this as a major threat to themselves or others whom will be entering the workforce. Gender and Society , (5), 609 Annotation: While there are women who work in predominately male dominated professions, there are also men who experience gender inequality in the workplace. The positions that are seen as women professions (teaching, nursing and social work), they also hit what may be called the “glass escalator”. The men who have held these positions have been seen as more competent and better leaders than the women who hold these positions. Some men have encountered discrimination within these positions especially if they are working with children (kindergarten teachers). Men who suffered from this type of discrimination had a hard time holding these positions. 4
