are all thanks to the Japanese government, who quickly realized the problem, admitted that there were errors along their path of development and acted in a way that might, at that time, harmful to the economy but ensures a sustainable future. Look back at the Thi Vai River in Vietnam, the similar case, but different solutions, different responses. Who know if out there, many “Vedan companies” and “Thi Vai River” exist? The answer is we know. It is too obvious since it directly damages the surroundings and affects our health, our children’s health. Nevertheless, we choose to be skeptical, to keep silent. If the government do not look right into the face of the situation soon enough, there would be time when it is too late, and we lose much more than what we earn. The opportunity cost of a healthy environment is always worth it, no matter how much. After deliberation, our group members have come to an agreement that the most effective measure to cope up with pollution is by enforcing a strong enough Environment Law as soon as possible. The Law needs to become a target for the whole nation, not just covering the punishment of polluters but also communications and educations. This is to help slowly change people’s awareness and build up a habit of living in a “secured” environment. Many may argue that Vietnam much relies on foreign enterprises and that they have branches or manufacturing companies in here, which we can not restrict their activities to a certain point. options to take, in stead of opposing a tax, we can use incentives and the rule of “a stick or a carrot” to guide them to our desired outcome. However, any actions seriously bring harms to the quality of the environment need to be stopped and the one who is responsible must make compensation. Vietnamese people’s health, or to be more specific labor force and future generations must be protected. A thoughtful plan to be built today will turn into a platform for growth in the upcoming time. This is for a sustainable and ensured future, for a long term development with more goals to be achieved. IX. .
