If there is a LaunchPad issue that I need to deal with, tech support will contact me. On the rare occasions when you need to contact me about a tech issue please include the LaunchPad Tech Support ticket # in your subject header. I do not respond to emails about technical issues without this information. Since we only see each other once a week, and this course is half online, I encourage you to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. I will always email students in a professional and respectful manner and I expect you to do the same. Please word e-mails in an appropriate, coherent, and grammatically correct format. All written communication is an opportunity to improve your writing skills; academic correspondence of any kind is NOTa venue for text language. Start an email message by politely addressing the person that you are writing to (“Hey” is not an appropriate way to begin an email). Use proper titles for people, and don’t assume marital status or preferred terminology (i.e., don’t address me as “Mrs. Henderson”). In addition, it is not common in Canada to address instructors as Sir or Madame. Most instructors will tell you how they wish to be addressed. You can call me either Antonia, or Dr. Hendersonif you prefer to be more formal. E-mails must be signed with your first and last name, and the subject line should include the name and section of the course. If your subject line is vague, or simply ‘hi’, there is a good chance that it will be discarded automatically. I teach 150 students in a number of different courses each semester. Here is an example of a poor email: “Hey this is Jonathan can i have an extenshun on my assignment”. This is not a good email. I don’t know who Jonathan is, what class he is in, which assignment he is referring to, or the due date. He has provided no information about why he deserves this extension, and the lack of proofreading and use of careless text language is unprofessional. Generally, I do not respond to these kinds of emails. Jonathan is unlikely to get the extension he wants! Before you ask questions, check your syllabus and assignment postings to see if the information is contained there. I don’t respond to questions via email when the information is contained in materials I have already provided. This is one of my KEY strategies for getting you to read these materials! Please use “reply” to the most recent message so that the entire message thread is included in all responses.Having the whole message string is essential in helping me keep track of many individual student requests. Re-read and edit email before you send it. If you do not follow these guidelines, I may not respond to your email, or advise you to edit your email before I answer your question. Treat this as practice for improving your writing skills.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
