Pursuit of happiness as Exercise of Virtue Function of man = live certain kind of life (using rational principle) Function of good man = good and just performance of these actions Turns happiness into activity of soul in accordance to virtue Being virtuous = not a passive state Should act accordance w/ virtue Must strive to possess them all Acc to aristotle, happiness consist in achieving (through course of lifetime) all the goods ---- wealth, health, knowledge, friends, etc --- that lead to perfection of human life, enrichment of life Requires us to make hard choices Lesser goods - more tempting (immediate pleasure)
