Cross pollination via bee-sticks was accomplished using this plant. The third quad, labeled C, was the lanolin control, where pure lanolin was added and pollination via bee sticks was accomplished. The fourth quad, labeled D, was treated with the low dose of IAA and pollinated using bee sticks. Lastly, the fifth quad, labeled E, was treated with the high dose of IAA and pollinated with bee sticks. The IAA and lanolin were added to the plants using a toothpick and spreading the treatment on each of the pistols on the plants. This treatment was only done to quads C, D and E. The cross pollination was done using a bee-stick to collect the pollen and transfer it to the flowers of the other plants. This treatment was only done to quads B, C, D and E. The cross pollination was completed every other day, whenever new flowers opened up.

Plant Growth Lab Report p.5After 7-10 days the fruits had grown large enough to determine the presence of seeds. The fruits from the plants that contained seeds were removed and harvested. After letting the fruits dry we dissected the seeds and analyzed them based off what treatment the plants were exposed to. RESULTSThrough this experiment, we discovered the effects of the naturally occurring auxin plant hormone, IAA, on fast plants. Based on our data, quad A, which had no IAA or lanolin, produced the longest fruit and contained seeds within the seed pods. Quad B, where the cross pollination occurred, produced the second largest fruit and also contained smaller seeds within the seed pods. On the other hand, quad C, which contained pure lanolin, had long fruits, but did not produce any seeds within the seed pods. The quads D and E, which contained different concentrations of IAA, had much smaller pods and also did not produce seeds in their seed pods.The negative control plant, where the addition of hormone and pollination did not occur, produced about 62 seeds with seed pods containing about four seeds each. The positive control plant, where cross pollination occur, produced about 32 seeds with seed pods containing about three seeds each. Although the plants in quads C, D, and E did not produce seeds, they still grew shorter fruits. The lanolin control plant produced about eight seed pods, the low dose IAA plant produced about seven seed pods, and the high dose IAA plant produced about five seed pods.(Our plants once fruits started to develop and the presence of some seeds occurred.)
