the allies not helping Czech Slovakia in standing up to germany - When hitler invades poland, so does the soviet union and they decide to split it - British royalty are german - Paratroopers started in WWII - Mother fucking Dunkirk 5-2-18 - Once Japan attacks Pearl Harbor, Americans began filing in by the boat load to enlist - The Japanese did not treat prisoners well; part of the Japanese creed was to not surrender as a soldier. They walked the prisoners and if even one of them stumbled, they were shot dead. Known as the Baton Death March - Atomic bombs were dropped on Japan - Russia attempted to run a capitalist, democratic, western style economy, Russia’s government completely fell, which in turn won the cold war for the US - Germany makes an attempt at world hegemony, which started WWI - They made a more calculated stab at it a second time, by the same country (and also japan), which started WWII - The two powers that emerged from both wars were the Soviet Union and the US, the first two super powers, which led to the Cold War - The morgenthau plan – proposal after WWII to essentially turn germany into a large farm - Both the US and Soviet Union occupied portions of Berlin - While the Soviets were completely stripping what was left of Berlin, the US was trying to help - After having each of the only highways and railroad paths to Berlin, the Soviets were trying to get the US out of Berlin, and they would not concede

- The US tried to give Berlin everything they needed through the air, which was known as the Berlin Air lift, where at it’s peak, US planes were landing and taking off every 3.5-7 seconds - The soviets also lied when saying that all of the USSR occupied territories would have open elections - Greece descends into civil war, with the US supplying one side and the USSR supplying the other - China also descended into Civil War in the 1920s; two factions – cheng kai shek vs mao zei dong - The US does not officially recognize Communist China, but does recognize Taiwan - The soviets joined our war against japan, and some of the lands were divided betwixt the two, the most important of which was Korea (USSR got North, we got South) - North Korea attacks South Korea, after the us began demilitarizing the south Korean area - This was the US’ first limited war - Some of the bombs were landing in china, causing China to also get defensive-aggressive, and send over a million men into war, pushing the border to its current day line - Because the US is afraid of War, NATO is formed, which causes the soviets to form the Warsaw pact, which was the equivalent
