Keeping up with the trends outside of the gaming industry creates a huge benefit for Nintendo’s consumers all around the world. The users would now have the ability to enjoy time playing the game and utilize the different channel inputs on the system to keep up with the news or explore the web.Weaknesses:Just as much as the brand strengthens itself with brand loyalty, it weakens itself in not reaching out to some more advanced gamers. Known for exciting its customers with refurbished versions of its previous games like Mario Bros and Zelda, some consumers only see Nintendo as a brand driven by the younger crowd. Though there is a variation of games to choose from, the quality and graphics steer some potential consumers away from investing in certain Nintendo consoles for their more intense gaming needs. To make matters worse, Nintendo has seemed to struggle with creating games that are just as efficient and cost conscious as its competitors’ games.As one of the top innovative gaming system developers, Nintendo is expected to significantly exceed what is anticipated. The problem seen over and over again is that the company suffers from having a temporary competitive advantage. While they are typically the first to make the next big move, Nintendo falls short in gaining stability and even maintaining differentiation in the industry.Opportunities:Nintendo has the ability to expand its arena by designing a less complex or even specialized gaming console. Doing so will definitely be costly and time consuming, but there is room for the company to make significant improvements or allow accessibility to popular games that Xbox and PlayStation users enjoy. It may also be a successful move for the company to recognize its consumers by age groups or even gaming preference. Since their focal point of production lies in family oriented gaming, they could look further into deciphering what users want from the family focused games, and what aspects users look for as individual players. The company has an already large consumer base that could be strengthened if they took advantage of their resources. Nintendo would benefit greatly from improving the user experience by implementing more apps and controls when requesting software updates. It could also incorporate more functions on its gamepad as a result. Seeking to increase the value of the current Wii U console as a whole could be an effective approach.Threats:Big name companies like Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation serve as huge threats in the gaming industry. Not only have they increased their usability amongst players of all levels,but they are also moving towards home entertainment versus just gaming on their consoles. Both of Nintendo’s rivals have the advantage of producing revenue outside of the gaming industry as well. This is a critical factor that is missing in Nintendo’s situation. Not only do these two companies have the ability to wait and improve their products after the Nintendo releases a new one; but the fact that they have experience in multiple technology-based fields gives them even
