My Leadership Styles The leadership style that most closely aligns to my philosophy is the servant and democratic style. The servant leadership are people “who practice servant leadership prefer power-sharing models of authority, prioritising the needs of their team and encouraging collective decision-making” (9 Qualities of the Servant Leader). They lead with the best interest of others around them. They value everyone’s opinions and seek out opinions and ideas from other to make sure everyone feels very involved and appreciated. Democratic leadership is someone who participates and involves their team members for input and the final decision making of things. They give everyone the opportunity to participate and ideas are exchanged 2

LEADERSHIP STYLE REFLECTIVE ESSAY very openly. “Researchers have found that the democratic leadership style is one of the most effective types and leads to higher productivity, better contributions from group members, and increased group morale” ( Cherry, K. 2019). What appeals to me most about both leadership styles are that they are both very similar and are also align not just with my philosophy of care but my worldview. I think it is extremely important as an advance practice registered nurse (APRN) to be able to delegate and be able to listen to those around you and take in as much feedback and advice as you can. In health care technology and research are constantly changing and some people might be more up to date on things than you may be. It is critical to put your patients’ needs above everything else and get those that agree and have the same worldview as you.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
