Exp 2: Facilitated Diffusion 1. 2 dialysis bags. 2. 2 beakers. 3. 200 mL of water + 10 drops of NaOH. 4. 200 mL of water + 50 drops of iodine. 5. 10 mL of water + 3 drops of phenolphthalein. 6. 10 mL of starch solution. Exp3: Osmosis 1. 2 250 mL Beakers. 2. 4 dialysis bags. 3. 250 mL of 10% sucrose. 4. 250 mL of 1% sucrose. 5. 10 mL of 1% solute. 6. 10 mL of 30% solute. 7. 10 mL of 1% solute. 8. 10 mL of 10% solute. 9. 3 sheets of lens paper. 10.Lens cleaning solution. 11.Specimen slides. Methods: (List the methods you used to perform each experiment) Be sure to list the methods by experiment: EXP: 1, EXP: 2, etc Exp. 1: Simple diffusion (Liquid exp) 1. With your wax pencil, draw a dot in the center of the petri dish. 2. Fill the petri dish with water 3. Then you measure the distance of the dot to the outer edge of the dish. 4. Add 1 drop of iodine and let it sit for 1 hour. (time it) 5. After the 1 hour; check and measure how far the iodine traveled within that time. (Semi Solid) 1. Remove the lid from the gel like petri dish. 2. Using your T-quart tool, punch a hole in the center of the gel. 3. Add 1 drop of Iodine and let it sit for 1 hour (time it) 4. After 1 hour, measure the distance that the Iodine it traveled. Exp 2 : Facilitated Diffusion (Beaker 1) 1. In 1 dialysis bag, fill with 10 ML of water and add 3 drops of phenolphthalein. make sure to double fold one end and tie it with a piece of string so that nothing leaks. 2. Fill 1 beaker with 200 ml of water and add 10 drops of sodium hydroxide. 3. Then place dialysis bag into the beaker. (Beaker 2) 1. In the 2nd dialysis bag add 10 ml of starch then tie the dialysis bag. 2. Add 200 ml of water inside the beaker, then add 50 drops of Iodine. 3. Gently place the dialysis bag inside beaker. Exp 3: Osmosis 1. In one beaker add 250 ml of 10% sucrose. 2. Then in the first dialysis bag add 1% of solute, close and place bag inside beaker. 3. In the second beaker , add 250 ml of 1% sucrose. 4. In the second dialysis bag add 10 ml of 30% solute, close and place bag inside beaker.
