5.2.2.1When NOTAM is selected for international distri-bution, English text shall be included for those parts expressedin plain language.Note.— The ICAO NOTAM Code together with significations/uniform abbreviated phraseology, and ICAO Abbreviations arethose contained in the PANS-ABC (Doc 8400).5.2.3Information concerning snow, slush, ice and standingwater on aerodrome/heliport pavements shall, when reportedby means of a SNOWTAM, contain the information in theorder shown in the SNOWTAM Format in Appendix 2.5.2.4Information concerning an operationally significantchange in volcanic activity, a volcanic eruption and/orvolcanic ash cloud shall, when reported by means of anASHTAM, contain the information in the order shown in theASHTAM Format in Appendix 3.
Chapter 5Annex 15 — Aeronautical Information Services5-325/11/045.2.5The NOTAM originator shall allocate to eachNOTAM a series identified by a letter and a four-digit numberfollowed by a stroke and a two-digit number for the year. Thefour-digit number shall be consecutive and based on thecalendar year.Note.— Letters A to Z, with the exception of S and T, maybe used to identify a NOTAM series.5.2.6When errors occur in a NOTAM, a NOTAM with anew number to replace the erroneous NOTAM shall be issued.5.2.7When a NOTAM is issued which cancels or replacesa previous NOTAM, the series and number of the previousNOTAM shall be indicated. The series, location indicator andsubject of both NOTAM shall be the same. Only one NOTAMshall be cancelled or replaced by a NOTAM.5.2.8Each NOTAM shall deal with only one subject andone condition of the subject. Note.— Guidance concerning the combination of a subjectand a condition of the subject in accordance with the NOTAMSelection Criteria is contained in theAeronautical InformationServices Manual(Doc 8126).5.2.9Each NOTAM shall be as brief as possible and socompiled that its meaning is clear without the need to refer toanother document.5.2.10Each NOTAM shall be transmitted as a singletelecommunication message.5.2.11A NOTAM containing permanent or temporaryinformation of long duration shall carry appropriate AIP orAIP Supplement references.5.2.12Location indicators included in the text of aNOTAM shall be those contained in Location Indicators(Doc 7910).5.2.12.1In no case shall a curtailed form of suchindicators be used.5.2.12.2Where no ICAO location indicator is assigned tothe location, its place name spelt in accordance with 3.6.2 shallbe entered in plain language.5.2.13A checklist of valid NOTAM shall be issued as aNOTAM over the Aeronautical Fixed Service (AFS) at inter-vals of not more than one month using the NOTAM Formatspecified in Appendix 6. One NOTAM shall be issued for eachseries.5.2.13.1A checklist of NOTAM shall refer to the latestAIP Amendments, AIP Supplements and at least the inter-nationally distributed AIC.
