The existing war between Saudi Arabia and Iran resulted from religion is divided into the Sunni and Shia and economic aspect. In terms of the religious element, both countries, and their governing regimes, share a lot of similarities that have helped cause problems. Both use religion to create legitimacy, though the Saudis belong to the Wahhabi Sunni branch of Islam and Iranian to the Twelver branch of Shia. Both claim to be "legitimate representatives of Islam" in the world, which causes conflict. This is the biggest issue in their foreign policy because both of them cannot fill this role, but both want to gain and use regional influence to promote their policies. Elsewhere, the economic aspect played a significant role in the conflict. There are economic similarities, particularly in that both rely heavily on oil and energy sales for their economies and are often directly competing for regional markets and influence. In conclusion, the existing conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia is caused by region and economic issues between the countries. The division of religion into the Sunni-Shia sectarian led to the conflict as both wanted to have regional influence. Furthermore, the economic similarities of both relying on energy and oil increased the competition for market influence resulting in the conflict. Sincerely,

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
