EVALUATION OF MY CORE COMPETENCIES4Competence.Last but not the least and most important trait a healthcare professional shouldpossess is competence in their field. Without adequate knowledge and expertise, it is impossibleto gain the confidence of the patients or fellow team members. I continuously self-educatemyself and stay up-to-date on the latest developments in both clinical research and technology, integrate it with my daily tasks to become competent and resourceful.Strengths and WeaknessesMy vital communication strength is effective listening. I believe that to be an effectivecommunicator one must listen to others first. I first try to evaluate the context in which I amtrying to communicate and consider several factors like type of audience, the relationship levelwith them, educational background and their level of interest to the topic in context and I try toframe my message and language to reach them effectively. Another strategy I use is to avoiddistractions while communicating like checking my phone or not maintaining an eye contact orchoosing a bad place to talk. Open communication and receiving feedback are two key strengthsto any physician. Patients would be comfortable to open up and discuss their problems with mebecause of my open-ended questions. I use this strategy of open-ended questioning even inmeetings at my current workplace so that I get more resourceful answers rather than a shortcutexplanation for my questions. My communication weakness that I figured out is that I am not a native English speakerand as a result, I tend to commit some grammatical errors and I don’t have the accent. I havebeen working on improving this problem by regularly seeking feedback and correcting myself.Sometimes it is easy to alienate me because of lack of my accent, but I don’t see that as aproblem and I use such situations to listen and grasp the information, rather than talk.
EVALUATION OF MY CORE COMPETENCIES5Professional GoalsAs iterated before, I believe in punctuality and discipline. Staying on time and on thetrack, are a necessity for me and I plan my day in a way that I organize and prioritize the thingsto be dealt methodically and in a sequential manner. Multitasking and working out of my comfort
