Fibres superficial and superior to the centre – abduction Fibres deep and inferior centre – pull femur in adduction TFL and Glute Max TFL – front so it causes anterior tilt Gluteus maximus – back so it causes posterior tilt Lateral side (abductors) – same side tilt o Ipsilateral (opposite of contralateral) 4 Small Hip Rotators – Deep Gluteal Region Superficial compartment is gone Deepest of the deep o Small hip rotators Gemellus twice o Superior and inferior Obturator Quadtratus femoris (4-sided shape NOT quadriceps) o All come across back of the hip  On to greater trochanter External rotator o Important to have external rotators over internal rotators That’s why we have so many To prevent us from caving in Obturator externus Obturator foramen, covered by obturator membrane o Obturator – to block or stop o Obturator externus comes from outside of pelvis and of the blocking membrane Internus – medial component, inside pelvis and the blocking o Externus – lateral and outside
