Instead of a dragon’s lair, or Grendel’s Mother’s underwater Hall, most fights took place either in the kingdom itself, narrow gorges , or in an underground cavern. All in all, “The 13 th Warrior” was more or less an accurate description or depiction of the tragic poem Beowulf. Though some elements contrasted between the movies, such as the monsters attacking, the major religions, and the locations of the movie, the movie also offered many aspects to link the poem to the movie, such as the characters, the basic overall plot, and the

traditions and culture of the time period existent in “Beowulf”. The 13 th Warrior is a mediocre representation of the poem. Although elements of the original poem poke through the action of the movie, many other new aspects of the movie work to conceal the original “Beowulf” plot. However, in terms of a movie to pass time, or just enjoy for the sake of being a movie, I recommend “The 13 th Warrior” for any movie watcher who enjoys an antediluvian, mythological, action-packed movie.
