I think that Jake has co-occurring PTSD and Alcohol Use Disorder. Jake lacks the
coping skills to handle his trauma and his wife and children lack adequate
supports(Laureate Education, 2013c). To best address these problems it is important to
treat not only Jake’s problems but also the issues the family is facing as well. Focusing
on reintegrating Jake back into society while building upon his resilience at the same
time as employing family interventions to assist the family with coping with the trauma
will give him the best shot at recovery (Wheeler & Bragin, 2007).

The evidenced-based program I would utilize is the FOCUS Family Resilience Program.
