Perhaps the most important role for the early childhood professional is to create a safe, clean, and healthy surrounding for all the students who they teach. This means providing an area that is free of hazard. Six through eight-year-olds are more aware of their surroundings and possible dangers. However, they are still prone to mishaps due to accidental injury and curiosity. The area must also be clean in order to prevent illness and keep everyone healthy.
In order for the children to flourish and continue to develop further, early childhood professionals must provide students with an area where they feel stress-free in physical, emotional, social, and academic ways. A student who feels stressed in any way will not be able to focus on activities which can assist the child in meeting developmental milestones.
