MOUNTAIN STAGE Find a nearby station that carries Mountain Stage or listen to the program’s Webcast at: NOTES: Along with the radio program, Mountain Stage also has a television show that may air on a public television station near you. A listing of the broadcasts and the stations that air them can be found on the Mountain Stage Web site. A tape of the television version would make a great illustration to use in class. Note that the television broadcasts are not of a single Mountain Stage show; rather, they are assembled from several separate programs. The site also has a list of upcoming live performances and the subsequent radio broadcasts. If you live anywhere near Charleston, West Virginia, it’s well worth making the trip to see live performance radio. THOMAS EDISON Visit the Thomas Edison National Historic Site on the Web: NOTES: Edison is one of the key figures in electronic media, being a technological pioneer in both the recording industry and the movie industry. The National Park Service web site now has an extensive archive of Edison cylinder recordings available in MP3 format that you can play in class.
