to me. It holds that there are organic problems in the brain that could cause abnormal
behavior, which includes crime and deviance. The mail theorist for this perspective is
Adrian Raine who presented it during the early 1990’s. He studied the PET scans of
brains form 22 murders but did not consider any other factors for this determination that
brain dysfunction leads to criminal behavior. While I do see that a dysfunctional brain can
contribute to criminal behavior, I don’t think it is the only contributing factor.

If someone is found to have a specific gene is responsible for criminal behavior at birth
then they would need to be monitored. They should have councilor and case worker
assigned to them. This would help keep any environmental dysfunction from contributing
to his behavior. This would also keep them in the system so that if they do commit a

crime. If this gene is found at 25 I would have the same response. They would need
programs and professional to help either keep them from committing criminal acts or
from committing additional criminal acts. At that age, if the gene is responsible for their
behavior then they possibly have a record.
