found for this dye. This is a much smaller percentage relative deviation than was found in the case of the Tartrazine Yellow Dye. As can be seen on the graph, three of the data points are reflected clearly on the best-fit line and the other point is also in close proximity to this best-fit line. There were many possible sources of error in this lab. One source of error could have been inaccuracies in measuring the respective amounts of water for each dilution. In this lab, the water was not measured into the volumetric flask using a volumetric pipet. Instead, the water was filled after the dye was applied using only the meniscus on the flask for guidance. Excess water in the flask would have affected the concentrations of each trial which in turn would have affected the molar absorptivity value. Excess water in the flask would also have affected the absorbance values in each of the trials. Another source of error could have been reflected in the spectrophotomter itself. Some of the spectrophotometers in the room were more receptive to the yellow dye than other spectrophotomters. Additionally, if someone did not re-zero the spectrophotometer, then the values that were derived for the wavelength and absorbance would not have been 3

accurate. Hence, a future idea for conducting this lab would be to get more accurate equipment that can give more accurate results. 4

"Before using Course Hero my grade was at 78%. By the end of the semester my grade was at 90%. I could not have done it without all the class material I found."

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
