EPIDEMIOLOGY PAPER: MEASLES 3 Determinants of health are factors in which contribute to an individual’s current state of health. These factors include biological, socioeconomic, psychosocial, behavioral, or social in nature (CDC, 2014). Epidemiologic Triangle The epidemiologic triangle is associated with the spread of a disease process. This incorporates the agent, the host, and the environment. Community Health Nursing Community health nurses hold various responsibilities in community settings. These nurses have the understanding that health of individuals and their communities directly relates to the determinants of health such as housing, income, employment, education, sanitation, and safety (Manitoba Health, 1998). The goal for nurses in a community are to improve the health of all people and decrease health differences among populations by addressing the determinants of health (Manitoba Health, 1998). The focus of community nursing role is the health of an entire population. They have the role of helping the public stay healthy and are directly involved in the care of individuals in their homes, with their families, and within their communities. Community health nurses are client- centered and focus on health and wellness When an outbreak of an infectious disease occurs, it is the community health nurse’s role to think globally but focus their actions locally. If an outbreak of measles occurs, the focus of the community health nurse would be “timely prevention strategies and control measures to prevent the spread of disease” (RNL, 2015, para. 3). Nurses have assessment training to recognize specific signs and symptoms of measles, which include the three C’s along with a fever and a rash. Consideration of measles should be immediately suspected if those symptoms

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
