How did the physical characteristics of the potato vary before and after the experiment? Did it vary by potato type? a. Both potatoes were firm as they were uncooked, but as the experiment went one they began to become a little frail. 2. What does the net change in the potato sample indicate? a. The net change in the potatoes indicate that some potatoes lost more water than others. 3. Different types of potatoes have varying natural sugar concentrations. Explain how this may influence the water potential of each type of potato. a. The higher the sugar concentration a potato the less water it has, meaning that the more sugar it has will result in more water absorption. ©eScience Labs, 2016

4. Based on the data from this experiment, hypothesize which potato has the highest natural sugar concentration. Explain your reasoning. a. The sweet potato would have the most sugar because it has the least amount of water within it. 5. Did water flow in or out of the plant cells (potato cells) in each of the samples examined? How do you know this? a. I know that water is flowing in and out of the cells because of the net displacement. With the white potato sample A the water has

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
