Social Change: Social change is dynamic. Its various elements, modes, mores, institutions, associations etc. are constantly changing. The older one will come into conflict with novel patterns, the result of which is that unanimity of society is destroyed. 2. Cultural lag: All the various elements of the society do not undergo an equal degree of change and modification. Physical elements change rather conveniently but the non-material elements change at a slow rate and their change lag behind the change in physical elements. 3. War: War is also one of the social disorganization because it introduces confusion and disorder in the society. The young men of the community are consumed in a way; young women are widowed, soldiers have to live in a camp. All these factors tend to become unsystematic. Social values are also injured by war. The value of human life is also reduced. 4. Crisis: Another major cause of social disorganization is crisis. According to Montessori Training , “Crisis is any occurrence which interrupts smoothly running habits, by focusing attention upon a conflict situation.” i) Participated crisis: It is that which is so sudden as to deprive people of their sense such as the death of a great leader, a terrible accident, famine etc. These crisis change the situation and functions of many million individuals. In order to face this crisis it becomes essential to immediately think of some solutions. ii) Cumulative Crisis: It is not manifested instantaneously but gradually takes root and develops a result of many successive incidents, the division of Indian Union and consequent creation of Pakistan, was just such a cumulative crisis. The societies on both the sides lost their orderly and systematic conditions and chaos has even now not been controlled and in both societies serious social disorganization sets in. 5. Change in Social Values: Social organization derives its strengthen from its social values. This organization was destroyed when some injury is inflicted upon them and the process of disorganization sets in. In this way both the organization and disorganization of society is based upon social values. Changes in social values necessitate new social institutions and associations. These come into conflict with the older, existing institutions and associations. This creates disorder in the society. 3

6. Change in social attitudes: Changes in social attitudes concur with the changes in social values. Individuals influenced by this change desire a particular kind of change in society whereas people beset in old tendencies, traditions and mores object to this change. Social disorganization results from this struggle.
