The number of road accidents in Africa is high. Toyota would have to step up their technology toensure the customers are safe. Furthermore, the pollution in Africa is high; hence they shouldproduce vehicles in Africa that would reduce the emission of pollutant substances. Technologyplays a role in ensuring the customers are safe. This means that Toyota would have toimplement both environmental and safety technology that would improve the safety of thecustomers and protect the environment from hazardous effects caused by using vehicles.Human resource departmentToyota ensures that the employees are in a comfortable and friendly environment. Moreover, they ensure that the employees follow the values of the company. However, for the company to implement the new technology in the technology department, they have to ensure that the employees in Africa are highly trained by reintroducing a new system of training the employees. In 2013 there was a labor strike in South Africa that affected the company and the suppliers of Toyota. The strike made the company unable to supply their products in time. This problem was solved once the reward system for the employees was reevaluated. Hence Toyota, should maintain the reward system for the employees in order to prevent strikes from employees for the company is in charge of the reward system. The cost of the above changes includes:Toyota would have to train their employees by changing their training system in order for their employees to have enough skills to operate the technology in the company. This cost will be done by Toyota for they are in charge of the training and reward system of the employees.How the corporate value chain will need changeAs rapid globalization affects the performance of players in the automotive industry, it thereforeintensifies the level of competition. Toyota’s strong capability to amply survive whatever form ofmarket instability and changes makes it a good player and will mark its success in the car manufacturing industry, although this is not a complete guarantee of sustainability. Toyota along with the other competitors is affected by the unpredictability of demand caused by varying factors such as demographic, political, social, environmental and economic conditions prevailing in the market. These factors should drive Toyota to continuously develop better vehicles that meet customer satisfaction, but in the process reduce the time being spent in its development. The cost to implement the changesIn order to implement these changes, Toyota must re-structure its corporate organization;employ workers possessing advanced technical expertise with respect to car manufacturing,conduct periodic training, and create a research facility that would focus on research to explorefor possibilities of producing its own supply of some raw materials so as to reduce itsPage 14of 22
