To make a concept map Step 1: List the key concepts in the text Each concept in 3 words or less List in any order Step 2: Rank the concepts so they flow from general to specific Write the main concept at the top of the page Place the most specific at the bottom Arrange the rest throughout the middle of the page, circle each concept Step 3: Draw lines that connect the concepts Add words that describe the relationships between the concepts on the lines Limit words Step 4: Review the map *Look for repeats III.
