Excessive happiness affects a person’s mood. Furthermore, overwhelming and intense happiness makes people have reduced creativity boost. Sometimes it contributes to causing psychological harm. Happiness is also accountable for making individuals inflexible when faced with new challenges (Globe) . Additionally, every situation is not suited for happiness. Positive emotions such as happiness indicate that our objectives have been achieved making us step back or slow down. Therefore, happiness can sometimes have a negative impact, especially during competition. Not all the types of happiness are suitable. Happiness sometimes makes people have pride leading to negative social consequences (Globe) . These include a greater possibility of getting mood disorders like mania as well as developing antisocial behavior and aggressiveness. The pursuit of happiness may make people unhappy. In light of this, as individuals seek happiness, they tend to set high standards which they may not attain. A good example of how the search for happiness can cause is in the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. The two went in search for pleasure rather than abide by the orders that were given to them. In the book of "The and Glory of Suffering," the author states that the sins caused by Adan in the garden brought the consequence of human suffering. In this case, suffering is portrayed as a tool that promotes destruction, corrupts the beauty and goodness of the world since it allows misery to permeate into every corner of humanity.

On the other hand, Paul Tillich, a theologian, posited that individual who bears suffering are taken underneath life's routine. The primary thing suffering does to persons includes taking one outside what happiness and logic encourage. Happiness requires an individual to think about maximizing his or her benefits. As such, suffering and difficulty send one on a different or distinct course. Individuals shoot for happiness, however, feel formed via pain and suffering.
