Since we are very concern with the user’s consent, we decided that there should be a pretty intense setup process . Some of the processes could include fingerprint, passwords, pins, FaceID or other use of security measures depending on the phone. Another consideration to keep in mind is how often a GPS location should be updated to the software . If the software was to be continuously updated, there would be a massive drain on resources like battery, but if the time interval of the update was too long, the software would not be accurate enough. Thus it would make sense for the software to allow the user to set up their own time intervals. They could also have the option to request someone for other user’s current location. Thus, unless requested the software should only update the real time location after a certain time interval depending on the setting of the user. We were also aware that at certain times users might not have connection to tell other users of a trip and might cause the software to realize this is an abnormal behavior. A solution to solving this would be to have the software t rigger different behavior when the user is found to be a certain locations such as airports and major train and bus stations.

This would allow users to let other users know that they are going on a trip and specifically send them a notification to let them know that the user is safe and will be going on a trip. Since there would be multiple user and the software needs to identify to to notify and who is using the application, there should be an account and grouping system. In order for the software to know which location belongs to which user, there should be an account set up for each user. This would also allow each user to have their own settings as well as their own circle of people who they want to share their location with. A grouping service should also be made available because not only might family members want to see each other’s location, a group of friends might want to keep track of each other. In an unlikely event that a device runs out of battery or breaks, the current location of the user would not be able to be updated. Thus, the software should keep track of the last known location and how long ago that was . Although a device runs out of batteries or breaks, this would be a method to let other users know how long a specific user has been “off the grid”. Thus other users would not be as worried and if anything they could start looking for where the user is based on their last known location. One of the ways that “normal” behavior can be determined might be through third parties sources or through a set up process at the beginning . For instance, Google provides a convenient way of allowing softwares to know what a user’s normal route is because under the user’s consent they allow the user to store a timeline of their day to day travels. Thus the software could use this information and learn about the user’s “normal” behavior. For users who do not use Google Timeline to store their day to day routes, the software should allow the users a certain time period to set their normal routines. Then the software should be able to learn about the user’s “normal” behavior.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
