Accessible Teaching & Support, 2012). This condition is common amongst the older people aged 60 years and above whereby the condition destroys sharpness and central vision of the eye thus hinders the ability to perform daily activities such as read, drive, and watch television. In most cases of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) that have been reported, the part of the eye that has been affected is the part that forms the fineness of the picture thus some of the patients may suffer from blurry vision (World Health Organization, 2012). This condition mainly comes about step by step thus making it hard for the patient to determine the extent of the condition based on their vision. Since the discovery of the condition, research analysts from around the world have tried to develop different cures for the condition, which have not bore any fruit to date. This means that any patient suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) cannot be able to receive any kind of treatment from health care facilities. The last major factor that causes blindness is diabetic retinopathy, which is very common condition that is caused by diabetes (Baraš, 2001). This condition mainly affects the retina of the eye causing light sensitive tissue to get damaged in the process. This in turn leads to a condition whereby the patient’s eye may not be able to form the images required and may, in most severe cases, lead to total blindness. For this reason, most of the diabetic patients are

Treatment and Medical Intervention The advancement in technology has been a major factor that has contributes to the treatment of some of the eye condition. This is by understanding the causes of the blindness and eliminating them thus giving the eye an opportunity to heal and regain its original form. For the patients having blindness that is caused by cataracts, the most common medical intervention that is given is through the use of glasses with special lenses that are modified according to the patient’s condition (Saramago, 2008). Some of the patients will require glasses that shield their eyes from bright lighting whereas some of the patients will require glasses with magnifying lenses. The main purpose of the glasses is to correct the formation of the image in the retina thus giving the patient the opportunity of see clearly. Some patients are also advised to wear sun glasses and a hat at the same time. This is to delay the cataracts by blocking the ultraviolet rays that are being project from the sun (Saramago, 2008). Another major treatment that is given to
