University Center for Excellence in Writing The University Center for Excellence in Writing (UCEW) supports and promotes writing for all members of the FAU community. The center's consultants are informed and sensitive readers who help writers become more reflective readers and more self-sufficient crafters of their written work. Consultants help students at any point in the writing process (i.e., brainstorming, drafting, revising) and with papers for courses. Conferences will vary according to the writing project. Such use will be done anonymously or on a volunteer basis with the aim of helping students learn to give constructive feedback and to think critically about their own work. Institutional Policies ¾ Disruptive behavior : Cellular phones should be turned off or not brought into the classroom. Radios, iPods, portable gaming systems, and other electronic media devices should not be used in the classroom. Disruptive behavior, as defined in the Student Handbook, will not be tolerated, and, if persisted in after warning by the teacher, will be grounds for removal from the class. Disruptive behavior includes chronic lateness, leaving and re-entering the room while class is in session, eating in class, and inappropriate use of electronic devices, including cell phones, laptops, and tablets.
