possess. Cynicism is someone who is negative and scornful. As a police officer being cynic could cause many problems. This could cause routine arrest for an officer to believe everyone is guilty. Instead of feeling the person is innocent until proven guilty like the constitution says. Well these past few traits have been mostly bad, so now I will explain one that is a little more positive. This trait is called authoritarianism. Authoritarianism is a very good trait in a police officer. This trait allows an officer to do his or her job to the letter. Authoritarianism is a person who has absolute obedience to their authority. This means that every person they come into contact with should be abiding by the law. However, there can be too much authoritarianism trait can be a bad thing because some one who does not believe in personal rights should not be a officer at all. A core value of an officer is protecting person’s individual rights.
