Goals and objectives are an important part of the personal assessment once strengths and weaknesses are identified. The two most important goals and objectives for this author are as follows. This author will graduate from the Family Nurse Practitioner program by December 2018 to take the licensure exam to become an NP. This author is just under half way through completing the program. If one class every eight weeks is taken, this goal is attainable by that time. Becoming an NP will help my family out financially, but it will also allow me to help my community and have a sense of purpose and fulfillment. This author also has the goal of
APN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN 5 working in pediatrics upon graduation for the purpose of treating children and working with their families as they grow. Since taking pediatrics in the BSN program, this author has been interested in working with children. During the practicums of this program, this author will seek out contacts and opportunities to make this goal happen.
