guarantee there is no conflict of interest when it comes to values. This allows me to play anintegral role in the company by supporting the vision. When I agree with the company’s valuesand mission it allows me to serve passionately and emphasize the importance of incorporatingthe values in everyday work to followers. It makes me more excited to lead because I know thatmy individual contribution is going towards a greater cause. Being authentic, genuine andserving with ethics molds the work culture. It is important to me that any organization that Iwork for have values that align with my own. My values are the driving force that allows me totake these actions and each of these key components play a role in developing me into aneffective, transformational leader.Top Three Strengths/Skills/Abilities Related to LeadershipAs I reflect on the collected results from my self-evaluations throughout the past seven weeks, Idiscovered that I had strengths in an area that I never considered. On the other hand, Idiscovered opportunities for improvement in areas that I considered to be my strong points. My top three strengths, skills, and abilities include:
Achievement- Oriented Leadership Behavior (challenges workers to perform at thehighest level possible; seeks continual improvement)Self- Awareness (personal insight; understanding personal strengths and weaknesses)Ethical Behavior (doing the right thing in the right way)These three strengths, skills and abilities fall within path-goal leadership (chapter 6), authenticleadership (chapter 9) and servant leadership (chapter 10), (Northouse, 2018).In chapter 6, Path-goal theory discusses how leaders motivate followers to accomplishdesignated goals (Northouse, 2018). After taking the Path-Goal Leadership Questionnaire Idiscovered that Achievement-leadership is one of my strengths. In the PGLQ, I scored an overallrank of 32. Leaders who rank high in Achievement-Oriented Leadership abilities have both greatexpectations of followers and high confidence in the abilities of followers to achieve goals andtasks. When taking the Authentic Leadership Self-Assessment, I found my highest score to be inSelf-Awareness, following internalized moral perspective, balanced processing and relationaltransparency in which I scored a rank of 18. Authentic leadership is a pattern of leader behaviorthat draws upon and promotes both positive psychological capacities and a positive ethicalclimate. Elements of this definition are incorporated in the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire(ALQ) developed in 2007 and considered the definitive valid and reliable instrument to measureindividual-level authentic leadership. Self-Awareness refers to an individual’s understanding ofpersonal strengths, weaknesses, and impact on others. For the Servant Leadership Questionnaire,I scored a 28.00 in the Behaving Ethically category, which is considered a high rank. Behavingethically involves defining moral and values first. After defining personal morals and values it isthen important to ensure everyday decisions and actions aligns with these morals.
