When completing the essay, there was some obstacles which hindered us. Finding resources for our topic proved difficult, as there were very few academic sources to find. Communication during the holidays and the ways in which we kept in contact was also hard, as the replies of some members of the group was very slow. At the time I was worried the work was not going to be completed, which made me very anxious and agitated. But as a group we worked it out. Our first solution to ease the workload of mine and Aishwarya was for Hannah and Aleesha to help us read through our resources and highlight which section they though would be useful. This helped us out greatly as it saved us time, allowing the essay to be completed faster. Another solution we used was to ask Juliet our lecturer for advice. In which she suggested to use the articles which we had previously studied and after reading them it gave us a better insight. Miss communication is something that is bound to happen when working within a group, but to overcome it having more than one means of contact was great, in which we created a WhatsApp group and a skype/face time to stay connected. As a group I believe that we worked very well together, and I personally, have seen a lot of improvement in my writing. As in the beginning, my starting point on the critical staircase was to describe, as I would only state what was happening. I also lacked the skill of referencing and citing and never really questioned whether a source was reliable or not. But now I feel that my academic skills have improved. When looking for resources I know to make sure they are academically accepted and to make sure they are reliable/unbias. I do this by justifying why. Overall if this were to be done again, a few things would be changed. Firstly, more meetings would have been to set up before the holiday and more methods of communication would have been used. This would have ensured that everyone knew what they were doing and as a result we’d work better as a team.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
