Lack of control over data quality: Government and other official institutions are often a guarantee of quality data, but it is not always the case. For this reason, quality issues must be verifying as outlined in this post. Inappropriateness of the data: primary data is mainly collected with a concrete idea in mind, mostly to answer a research question. In this sense, secondary data sources may provide you with vast amount of information because it has been collected to answer a different research question or objectives. Inaccurate: the accuracy of secondary data is not known in most cases. The data collected from secondary research can be outdated. 7. Identify three different types of agencies where records would be important in the criminal justice system. The three major agencies are the National Crime Information center (NCIC), National Incident- Based Reporting system (NIBRS), and National Data Exchange (N-DEX). The NCIC helps in providing multiple cross-sections of information which are being provided by the FBI, state, federal, authorized courts, and local and foreign criminal justice agencies. The data which will be compiled by the NCIC is vast since they provide data which pertains to histories of criminal records. Six different persons who are wanted are mentioned in the first category. Depending on how the data is going to be reported, reliability and validity could be compromised.

The NIBRS has been in existence since late eighties. They work as NCIC to provide an excellent opportunity for data as well as exacerbating common criminal justice pitfalls. According to FBI, there is a measure of white-collar crime which is being detected by UCR Data set. The crime can also be detected in schools and colleges. The offenders and arrestees are then reported via NIBRS Data set. The issues of reliability emerge when considering the flexibility of the data and validity is subjected to questions the further out in abstractness we venture while still accumulating the data. The N-DEX is a criminal justice information-sharing platform. It is not different to NCIC in terms of its raw volume alone, and it is similar to NIBRS in the sense that is utilizes more unorthodox when considering the need to know basis of any law enforcement information sharing and gathering. The N-DEX agency records are vital since they post 9/11 criminal justice realities. 8. When the term “informed consent” is used in criminal justice research, it refers to some very specific ethical concerns. Discuss what is meant by “informed consent” and why it is important when engaging in research. Informed Consent is the norm of voluntary participation which is usually satisfied by informing subjects about research procedures, then obtaining their consent to participate Informed consent is important in research since it requires that subjects understand the purpose of research, possible risks and side effects, possible benefits to subjects, and what procedures will be used.
