The problem I have chosen to highlight in this assignment is plastic waste pollution in our oceans. The problem is the world produces too much plastic, especially single use plastic. For example utensils, straws and cups, grocery bags, trash bags, water bottles and the list could go on. The problem is there is nowhere for it to go. Not very many countries have functioning

Wright 4 recycling systems let alone waste management. So where does it all go? Many countries ship it off to others to take care of, where is sits and decomposes, and ends up in the water most of the time. There are a few main dangers I want to focus on. Death of sea life being a very important one to me. We have all heard of the turtle with the straw in his nose, and the animals who are injured from being trapped in trash, and finally we are animals too, how is it harming us? Micropollution is a huge part of ocean waste. Grocery bags being graded into tiny pieces by sun, sand, and waves, then being eaten by fish, then being eaten by us. I love sea animals and I want to protect them. I also want my carbon footprint on this earth to be as small as possible, we only get one earth and I believe we should take care of it, as it takes care of us. Most of the research I found shows how the trash enters the ocean, where the majority of it comes from, what micropollution is, and why it happens. This is helpful, so that I can understand what the solution could be. I need to do a little more research regarding how my solution would be possible. Obviously wanting to find a solution to all the trash in the ocean is quite ambitious, so I decided as just one girl I would go about it a little differently. I wish I could provide a recycling plan to every country in the world and it would solve all of our problems, but it’s just too big of a scale for just one person. Also, I could suggest simple things as my solution, reusable straws and cups, reusable grocery bags, easy cheap things to lighten your personal carbon footprint. But my solution idea is somewhere in between. I want to propose a store. It’s a store for everything, groceries, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, pretty much everything that comes in plastic
