IBM executed several social media platforms to fix these inconsistencies including the use of a “Country Twitter” and “Connections environment”. IBM has country specific Twitter accounts that allows employees to transmit quick messages out to their colleagues. This allows busy field employees to stay up to date with the latest news via their mobile phone. It may not be convenient for a remote employee to stop mid task and read a long winded corporate email communicating a company wide message of some sort. However, a quick, simple, and to the point Twitter message can provide the employee with a quick summary of what’s going on.
