List 3 ways patient confidentiality is maintained in the reception/waiting area of a
medical office.
The first way I would maintain the patient’s confidentiality is to remove any files from
the desk area that shouldn’t be up there. This will prevent anyone who comes to the desk
area to see other patient’s medical files. The second way I would maintain patient
confidentiality is by asking people to stand away from the desk until they are called up.

This will allow each patient to have their own private moment while sharing information
with the people at the front desk, they don’t want others to know. The third way I will
protect patient confidentiality is y communicating any information with the patient in a
low tone, that way others will not be privileged to hear what is being communicated.
4.A breach of confidentiality can result in what consequences for a health care professional?
5.
Identify and explain two exceptions to confidentiality in healthcare settings.
There are few exceptions to confidentiality in the healthcare field. Child abuse is the first
exception to policy. If any healthcare provider or any other personnel suspects a child is
being abused they have a right to report this abuse. It has to be made known immediately
so that the child can et help. Another exception to the policy is if a mental health patient
poses a risk to others. Any healthcare professional has a legal obligation to report to
others if an patient poses a threat. That way no one can be put in harm’s way.
