read people, he or she will waste no time in motivating the team in accomplishing a goal or task. This skill in integral is helping a manager know if he or she is wasting precious time or not and quickly make adjustments without wasting time. The team will be easily persuaded because the manager feels what they feel and says what they want to hear. A good manager also makes the team want to work for him/ her. Once a team feels free and enjoys working for that manager, the manager would barely have to break a sweat, goals will be accomplished stress-free and the environment will be a win-win situation for both manager and team. 152 words Permalink | Show parent | Reply Re: Learning Guide Unit 1 by Samuel Kalafa - Thursday, 13 September 2018, 9:20 PM Hello, I would say that management should be more than just leading people to where they want to go; The best managers are those who are both leaders and managers. As the manager would be heading a group of staff in an organisation, it is good to also embrace the democratic way of leadership where every employee's opinion is listened to and the best one chosen. This helps foster motivation among the staff. Most managers nowadays are more of authoritarians than leaders; they are less involving and impose decisions on their subordinates leading to discouragement of the subordinates. Major management process entails Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling the day to day running of the organization. For these processes to be successful there has to be a well-laid strategy that will guide into achieving the set goals. A strategy is the central, integrated, externally oriented concept of how an organization will achieve its objectives.(Hambrick, D. C., & Fredrickson, J. W. 2005) In planning, the management should have well articulated mission and vision for the organization. The management is responsible of ensuring the organization's goals are achieved and the focus is maintained.

During organizing there should be a proper organizational design, culture and an established social network. In leading, as there are different leadership levels, the top management should support the middle and lower management levels in order to realize the their full potential. There should also be a smooth flow of information throughout the entire organization. Groups should be formed to foster teamwork. In controlling, the there should be proper management of systems in place. There should also be a well- planned strategy to manage the human resources. References Hambrick, D. C., & Fredrickson, J. W. (2005). Are you sure you have a strategy?. When I opened the local retail store I thought maybe bossing people around, giving out bonuses , and being tough was the way it was done. Many employees quit I could not understand for the life of me what I was doing wrong. In time I realized that the problem was, the people I was hiring do not share my vision. I never actually shared it with them in the first place. The next two employees I hired I spent more

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
