COLLAPSE Regardless of where we come from, our cultural As my own personal values i chose this photo because I strongly believe that no matter what backgrounds we come from, demographics, race, religion etc. every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I also chose this photo to represent "Dignity and Worth of a person" as the reason I chose social work as my profession. According to the NASW code of Ethics (2017), "A social worker is to treat each person with in a caring and respectful fashion, mindful of individuals differences and cultural and ethnic backgrounds". Considering dignity and worth of person, we move our clients to self-determination to the best of our abilities. NASW code of ethics (2017) also states for dignity and worth of a person "We seek to resolve conflicts between clients' interest and the broader society's interest in socially responsible manner consistent with values, ethical principals, and ethical standards of the profession". Transitioning into my area of interest upon graduation, this particular value will give me a head start to begin to understand the different populations of people I will be confronted with and how to be compatible with them in each need. Reference: NASW Code of ethics. Revised (2017), p.5. Islamic Network Group, (2018) I love how you used a picture of different individuals with different skins tones. This show that every individual is different but she still be treated with the up most respect. As social workers one of our goals is to treat every individual the same and not being judgmental. Even though you may not agree with every choice your client makes it's our job to lead them in the right direction and that doesn't mean them doing things our way. We as social workers have to realize our clients may take a different path than what we would have chose but as long as the outcome is a positive one that's all that matter. , COMPETENCE Cultural awareness and competence are very important in social work. The picture depicts cultural working together. You have to be competent and know yourself to work in a broad field as social work because you are working with in a diverse and multicultural society.
