emissions. Voluntary efforts in a number of sectors over the past several years have failed to curb the overall growth in U.S. GHG emissions. A number of policy options are available to secure additional emissions reductions. However to be effective and affordable, a long-term emissions reduction program must couple mandatory GHG reductions with technology development and market mechanisms. Climatechange is a long-term challenge that will require sustained global action and investment over many decades. Ideally a national strategy would be guided by a specific long-term emissions goal. It would alsocouple short- and long-term measures and both supply and demand elements to signal markets to begin the transition toward that ultimate objective. More specifically short-term measures are needed to improve energy efficiency and encourage the use of lower-carbon fuels; long-term measures are needed to encourage sustained investment in development of the technology and infrastructure needed to
facilitate the transition to a low-carbon economy. Further because energy consumption is an important component of GHG emissions any domestic energy policy program must be geared toward long-term GHG emissions reductions.Reply Quote Email AuthorHide 3 replies3 days agoTIMOTHY SMITH INSTRUCTOR MANAGERRE: Week 10 DiscussionCOLLAPSEOverall Rating:1234512345Leita...Reply Quote Email Author2 days agoLeVert Marshall RE: Week 10 DiscussionCOLLAPSEOverall Rating:1234512345Good Morning Leiya,
You made some valid points and I agree. It has only been recently that climate change has been a talking point for politicians even though it has been impacting the world for years. There are definitely regional impacts and some localities are experiencing more changes than others. Currently California is battling wildfires with four months of the wildfire season. The government has not created enough legislation to improve air quality and clean water. Flint, Michigan has been suffering from unclean water for year even after media attention it received. Companies have taken some initiative to minimize emissions however, it is not enough and developments are needed to be able to use more clean resources.Reply Quote Email AuthorHide 1 reply2 days agoTIMOTHY SMITH INSTRUCTOR MANAGERRE: Week 10 DiscussionCOLLAPSEOverall Rating:1234512345LeVert...Reply Quote Email Author3 days agoCrystle Khalil RE: Week 10 DiscussionCOLLAPSE
Overall Rating:1234512345What are two approaches to address the negative consequences of climate change? Which do you think will be most effective? Why?Do you think the US is doing enough to combat climate change? Why or why not?The climate is considered the normal weather temperature in a specific area. When there is a transition in the normal temperature and the amount of rain in a particular area changes, climate change evolves.
