8. Malcolm X founded the Afro-American Unity which was dedicated to the philosophy
of Black Nationalism asserting that Blacks should control the economy and politics of
the Black community.
9. Malcolm X intended to go before the Commission on Human Rights to bring charges
against the United States for its mistreatment of Black Americans.
10. At a lecture at Oxford University in England, Malcolm X declares that “anytime
you live in a society supposedly based upon law and it doesn’t enforce its own law
because the color of a man’s skin happens to be wrong, then I say those people are
justified to resort to any means necessary to bring about justice where the
government can’t give them justice.”
11. Malcolm X was assassinated with supposedly by members of the Nation of
Islam, even though many, including Malcolm X, believed that “others” were
responsible for multiple death threats and his subsequent assassination.
12. The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) led by Stokely
Crmichael , also known as Kwame Toure, organized a voter education campaign in
Lowndes County, Alabama.

took on Meredith’s campaign and continued the march to Jackson.
16. “ White City Officals ” scared people because they could not separate Black
Power from violence and because its advocates were so vocal about Blacks
empowering themselves that it left little room for involvement of well meaning
