Part 3: ReflectionFor this clinical field experience, I wanted to administer an assessment that was easy andsimplistic seeing as these are second grade students. Providing the students with a multiplechoice and true/false assessment makes the assessment easier and less stressful for the students. With a multiple-choice assessment, students are able to use process of elimination when pickingan answer if they are not sure what the answer is. True/false only gives the students two answers. The statement is correct or it’s not. I also chose to provide a multiple-choice and true/false test asit is a simple way for me to determine the student’s comprehension of the story. If the studentsknow the correct answer, there will be no signs of hesitation or process of elimination in order togive the right answer. This is how their level of comprehension of the story will be determined.Providing effective feedback is important as it helps students to see any mistakes or lack ofunderstanding they may have. Providing feedback provides great results as it presents anopportunity for students to develop their learning deeper and promotes positive growth. It isimportant that students are provided with feedback as it lets them know how they are doing andallows them to set future goals for themselves. When students are able to set future goals forthemselves, it allows them to be more successful as they develop and grow. The data that wascollected from the pre-assessment helped prepare me in making an applicable summativeassessment for the students.
