At the same time, I will work with the local community leaders to reach out to youths in high schools to address the issues of drug abuse and its debilitating effect. This is borne of the realization of the containment theory by Reckless that the environment has power to shape people to who they become. By taking control of those external factors that come with taking drugs it is easy to control the extent to which the internal factors are determined (Matza & Sykes, 2017). The internal and external factors have a huge role play in the growth of human person

THEORY AND PRACTICE 5 In addition, I will nature a group of volunteers who are willing to interact with kids and know of their stories. Children tend to open up to a person they can trust. This will avoid bringing up a community of people who don’t open up about their problems. As the containment theory suggests it is by lack of the opportunity to express themselves that children try to look for solutions ((Hirschi, 2017). The solutions however are dangerous as they seek to pick the path of the least responsibility and rebellion. If an individual has a positive self-concept of oneself then they will be resilient enough to avoid engaging in criminal activity (Matza & Sykes, 2017). Containment theory’s belief is that an individual can follow a straight path if the peers, friends and family are actively deterring each other from crime. For idea of containment theory is having good influences in life to steer away from criminality and delinquency. Also, I will engage the education system to come up with guidance and counseling sessions in schools as the actions of delinquency are brought forth by deep seated unresolved mental trauma. It is the neglected aspects of the society that fester into deeper aspects that soon require police attention(Rebellon & Anskat, 2018). This is however not the case which should be as there is need to come up with strong society. The future of the country can only be safe when the children who come out of the system are mentally healthy(Matza & Sykes, 2017). This is important to happen in the education system because that is where the faculties of the mid are developed. When the children get it right from school then there is high chance of the society succeeding in reducing broken boys and girls. The second phase of dealing with delinquency is advocating for a society that appreciates the values of morality. When the people are steeped up in the right morals they become starters of positive change. Sutherland believed that the peers, relatives and friends influenced an individual’s behavior. If an individual is around crime or deviants their behavior would be learned and perceived as normal. Observing his peers, relatives and friends teaches

THEORY AND PRACTICE 6 an individual how to act. The observation of peers could be through verbal instruction or non- verbal actions(Rebellon & Anskat, 2018). An individual observing the peers or relatives engaging in criminal and deviant activities will then take in the activities and view them as normal. An individual told to act in a criminal or delinquent manner by a trusted peer, will do as they are told and assume the act is normal.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
