create change and solve problems that may be unforeseen at the time, saving the company time and money. For example, during my time as a sales leader I would ask my team “what techniques were working for them when they had customers over the phone?” “How is this resulting in a sale and can it be replicated?” Asking my team questions like these and letting them know I am open to hearing their ideas promoted inclusiveness and making others want to contribute more to the team’s success. GoDaddy’s biggest struggle for me is their high turnover rate for its sales departments. Using thefour communicative risks aspects of negotiation the plan for employee retention should be at the top of the list, by continuing to have extensive training and shadowing other current employees to show them how the job is done. In attending addressing the issues of high turnover rates and why people are wanting to leave would be the next thing to do. When it comes to sense making we would discuss with other workers like trainers and HR as to why we think they are not staying with the company, so we can get a better grasp on the other opinions of our peers so when transforming comes along we know what actions to take. Lastly, maintaining our ideas to keep sales employees with the company and staying on top of things to prevent turnover in the future for example sign on bonuses, higher comp plans and less stringent attendance policies. 4
Brittani MackCOM 451 The knowledge I have retained from this class and the readings have helped me in more ways than I thought. Not just for work, but also in my way of life. I have learned so many things about myself as a person and as a leader. How I handle certain situations and how to prevent things from happening with communicating will be things I use the rest of my life. Many things I learned were also reinforced from things I may have gone through in previous jobs and in trainings as well, but it helps put things in perspective when you are in the workplace. Having the text readily available with examples of other examples that can happen helped me out as well for the future, it allowed me to see what I want out of an organization and how I want things handled in a professional manner. It equipped me to have better conversations with other leaders at GoDaddy and in some ways, make me look more professional. I love the fact that I could apply so many concepts to what I do at work and for that I am grateful. 5
