He then follows up to that by talking about a story on the news about how the mall gets busier at Christmas time. It is meant to make the reader take the likes of a large historical event and then put it up against everyday news and see how laughable it is, it works very well. The use of Pathos and ethos does not create the whole argument however, Saunders uses some rhetorical fallacies as well within his essay. Throughout his essay, primarily toward the end, Saunders uses a few rhetorical fallacies within his argument. A few such examples of this are faulty analogies. He uses these multiple times throughout the final pages of his argument. The most pronounced one he uses is when he likens the modern human race to “six or seven troglodytes madly projecting about a village of opposing troglodytes… to eliminate it on the fallacious power of their collective flame-fanning,”. The fact that he likens us to cave people of so long ago is extremely faulty. The world’s understanding and ethical, logical, and emotional acceptance and evolution has far exceeded them in any sense. Saunders uses these rhetorical fallacies to make a point, but they are just that, fallacies.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
